When I got my new Android phone, I was eager to load it up with fun and useful apps. I figured it would be easy to find apps to keep me and my family organized and informed throughout the day. As it turned out, there are a ton of apps - if you're an iPhone user; Android moms have to dig deeper. I know that lots of moms have been getting Android phones; I hope this list helps you make the most of yours.

Calorie Counter – MyFitnessPal
For keeping track of food calories and your daily fitness regimen, we still haven’t seen another app that can beat MyFitnessPal, also featured in last year’s Android roundup. Although the app calls itself a calorie counter, it also tracks specific nutrients (like fat, fiber, and sodium) as well as your fitness activities. You can see progress charts and interact with online friends for support, and when you’re done inputting your day’s food/fitness data, you get a prediction of what you’ll weigh in a few weeks if you ate the same thing every day. MyFitnessPal has an enormous database of foods (so it’s easy to calculate daily calorie intake) and automatically remembers your favorites. Enter foods by scanning their barcodes, typing them in, or selecting from a list of foods you’ve entered before. The app is fully integrated with MyFitnessPal’s website, which offers all the features of the app, plus community support from fellow users.

“Health Album” by pingMD is a great new health solution for parents. You can record your childs growth, development, vaccinations and other medical information. The App is really easy to use so you have quick access to your childs health details. There is a membership requirement for connecting with your Doctor and your Doctor needs to be a part of the service, but the secure information portal alone is great.
