BABBLE BEST - MOMMY BLOGGERS
Mommy bloggers make a difference. Sometimes it's their confessional tone that helps you feel like you're not the only one, sometimes their simple honesty puts you at ease, and sometimes they're so funny, you almost snarf your protein shake. There are the bloggers we relate to and there are others we watch like a train wreck, but no matter where we're coming from, we're all part of the same overwhelming, magical situation.
That's why we're dedicating the inaugural Babble Top 50 list to those who know best: moms. Babble staff and contributors compiled our top mommy-blogger picks based on the following criteria: most controversial, funniest, most confessional, best design, most useful and best written (though we left off Babble's own mommy bloggers because, as with our own kids, we couldn't possibly pick a favorite). These are our picks, but we're sure you'll have something to say on the matter, too.

Dawn Meehan’s Because I Said So is a kaleidoscope of bright graphics, ebullient text bubbles, hand prints, homemade kid art and family snap shots. “We’re the original Brady Bunch (3 boys, 3 girls),” she crows, capturing the hokey style of that sitcom gem with a handwritten “Dawn” signature and companion smiley face. Her posts range from a public service announcement about self check-outs to heavier struggles with her husband’s recovery from alcoholism. Meehan’s not an over-educated, urban sophisticate; she doesn’t have a college education or keen design sense. She’s sincere, optimistic, and religious - a refreshing break from the usual. She quotes the Bible and frequently asks for prayers for her family. Her loving outlook has created devoted readers as well as awards, including Best Parenting Blog, Best Humor Blog, and Hottest Mommy Blog on the Blogger’s Choice Awards and Funniest Blog from Blogluxe 2009. In April 2009, Dawn Meehan published Because I Said So: And Other Tales From a Less Than Perfect Parent, a compendium of her down-to-earth insights.
