The Top 50 Etsy Parents of 2012As parents, putting family first can make us feel like our own interests and hobbies are pushed to the backburner. However, sometimes you meet a mom or dad who carves out time to pursue their passions — and make a living from it, to boot. While compiling this list, we’ve had the chance to hear from incredible parents around the globe. What they all have in common is a love for beautiful things — and the savvy to share it with others on Etsy.
The shops on this year’s list are as diverse as the sellers behind them. From couture kids clothes to vintage home goods, each object showcased here is a representation of the creative stories behind them. Warning: this is online shopping, taken up a notch. Prepare to become addicted! (And if you think we missed a shop, nominate it in the comments!) — Amy Levin-Epstein

Angie initially opened up her shop to start paying off student loans — but since the success of her business has allowed her to cover most of her college expenses, her money-saving focus has shifted: one-hundred percent of the profits go to funding the adoption for her family’s third child. “Steampunk Funk has become a love letter to my baby,” Angie says. “It is helping complete our family.”
Many of the shop’s rings and bracelets are created from antique barn nails that are over 100 years old, and most of her shop’s items carry the rustic, rural vibe you’d expect from such vintage materials. “I bought my first hundred barn nails for $10,” Angie says. “I turned around and sold all 100 for an average of $65 dollars each. That’s a pretty good investment, I’d say!”
