This summer, three film trends are apparent: cute animated creatures traveling into space; broody, conflicted superheroes; and a glut of sequels and remakes. We have high hopes for a few of these, but no one knows what your kid likes better than you. Here are some CliffsNotes to help you out.

TAKE THE KIDS IF: They like their monsters big and scary, with Freudian subtext.

IN 10 WORDS: Sixties secret agent TV show remade as modern slapstick comedy.

TAKE THE KIDS IF: They're into Austin Powers-style schtick.

WALL-E

RATING: Not yet rated. Probably G.
STARRING: Sigourney Weaver, John Ratzenberger
IN 10 WORDS: Adorable Pixar robot lives and loves on abandoned future Earth.

TAKE THE KIDS IF: They have a pulse. You really can't go wrong with a Pixar film.
