Jeans are a wardrobe essential for every woman; they're slimming, sturdy and don't have to be laundered with each use. Basically perfect for moms.
Most moms-to-be rely on Old Navy and the Gap for their denim needs. Sure they have a solid assortment, but if you're after some serious style check out these hot brands.

Babble Best: Mavi 5 Pocket Dark Wash — $108
Moms-to-be deserve cool togs, like this pair of Mavi jeans. Your friends will think you splurged for a fancy $200 pair of designer denim, and we don't see any reason to fess up that these are a relative steal. Dark enough for a night out, this trendy pant also works in office-casual settings. When road-tested, these jeans earned the most compliments of the dozens we tried. They've got a flattering fit thanks to smart pocket placement and a gentle boot cut shape. The 33" length leaves you free to pair them with heels or get them shortened.

American Star Original — $39.98
Ideal for a day at the playground or running errands, this light wash, straight leg jean is supremely comfortable thanks to the "Secret Belly Fit" (ia high panel that wraps over the belly), which actually keeps the pants up no matter how big your belly gets. At this price, we suggest buying two pairs. Another bonus — ladies with non-Amazonian proportions won't have to worry about getting these hemmed -- a definite issue with the fancier dark denim styles. The one thing we'd change is the nude hue of the belly panel. It reminds us of thick orthopedic hosiery from the '70s.

Paige Premium Denim: Laurel Canyon — $185
Paige has a knack for making butts look good. We swore by her when we weren't pregnant. And now that we're knocked up, we still feel sexy when we slip these on. That's why we'll cough up the cash to supplement our Old Navy maternity wardrobe with these jeans. A subtle crease in front and back of the pant leg help achieve a long, lean look. These jeans aren't for everyday, as they don't work with flats. The waist-specific sizing (picking from S-M-L can be limiting) affords a better fit than most, but these will most likely require a trip to the tailor since all sizes have a 34" inseam.

Isabella Oliver Denim Palazzzo — $160
If skinny-legged jeans make you squeamish (and we sympathize), a fluid dressy denim palazzo pant is just the ticket. The sassy Brits behind this brand know how to shake up the staid maternity wardrobe with fresh cuts and silhouettes. We love these jeans because they're fluid and forgiving. Thanks to the longer, wider leg, we felt confident and chic.

Kelly Jean from Citizens of Humanity — $185
The Kelly jean looks just like our non-maternity jeans with their five-pocket design and Humanity's telltale rear pocket stitching. We found these skinny jeans looked cool enough for a girl's night out (minus the mojitos). But get out the scissors — all sizes have a 34" inseam.
