Adios diapers! It's time to move up to the big league — real underwear. Snazzy undies work wonders when it comes to potty training (after all, who would want to pee all over Spiderman?). We've found "big kid" underpants that won't creep or crawl into uncomfortable places and may convince your toddler it's time to give the pull-ups a rest. — Nicole Feliciano

When it comes to exciting prints, Claesen's is a clear winner. From butterflies (for her; $16 for two) to guitars (for him; $18 for two), toddlers will soon make these the go-to underwear. Our advice: buy multiples of your favorites since your kids won't want to wait for laundry day. Testers loved the fit of the boxers and little girls stayed wedgie-free in their briefs. The touch of Lycra allowed the boxers to keep from bunching up inside pants. Claesen's a favorite in European brand, are designed in Holland and made in India.

Delicious food, fine cinema and underpants. Yep, these are three things you can count on from the French. Petit Bateau offers the thickest, softest cotton of all the models we tested. For dainty little ladies, the Milleraies panty 2-Pack ($24) is a perfect pair (love the shiny, silver Lurex stitching and detail). Small men will be complaint-free in their cotton boxers ($21) with side openings. Of course, for most families, these fineries are too expensive to make sense — which brings us to our next pick . . .

Fruit of the Loom
Remember your favorite pair of Underoos? Cartoon character undies are still around and Fruit of the Loom seems to have cornered the market. Though we can't say much about the quality, kids simply go bananas for themed underthings. Our advice buy in bulk — they won't last long. For boys, Spiderman is a current fave (three-pack, $7.99) and girls will gallop with glee in their My Little Pony girls underwear (three-pack, $8.95).

If you are as picky about what clothes go on your child as what food goes in, you'll dig these luxurious organic cotton offerings from Hanna Andersson.
