Pear and Gruyere Grilled Cheese

jaimem Jaime |

Lunch can always use a bit of a pick-me-up. Although there are always thousands of things to make, we often get stuck in a rut. One way to get out of it is to take something very ordinary and change up the ingredients just a little bit. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich, for example, can be made different by using almond butter and cherry preserves.

For this regular grilled cheese, which I might normally make with cheddar and a sliced tomato, I used gruyere cheese and a few slices of pear. I fI had ham in my fridge, I might have added that as well.

Looking for more ideas for pears? Here’s a list that will supply all the creativity you need.

Pear and Gruyere Grilled Cheese

2 slices good sandwich bread
2 teaspoons butter
1/2 ounce shredded gruyere cheese
3 thin slices of pear

Butter bread and place cheese and pear slices in between. Grill in a nonstick skillet over low heat until cheese is melted and bread is golden brown.
