Who: Heidi Fink, a mom of two sons living in Victoria, Canada
Why we love this blog: Welcome to the big leagues. Fink is a professional chef and food writer, but she specializes in making gourmet recipes accessible to home chefs. Recipes like “beef chili made from freezer finds” and musings about Fink’s “pantry of shame” populate this blog, alongside dispatches from the cooking classes Fink teaches and special recipe requests from her sons. Despite her experience in the culinary world, Fink is the first one to say “Clafouti is the kind of word, I swear, that chefs love to use to cast a veil of mystery over the simplest of recipes.” (It’s actually a mix between a custard and a cake.) For that kind of approachability, we salute her.
