Homemade Holiday Gifts: Cranberry-Grapefruit Marmalade
I’ve never made marmalade before, but considering my deep affection for all things citrus zest, I thought I’d give it a try. This recipe makes a bright, tangy jam that has vivid cranberry color and lip-smacking grapefruit flavor. It’s a sweet jam, so even the youngest at your table will enjoy it. And, the small, vibrant jars make excellent homemade holiday gifts. A jar of homemade jam is a special gift, and I love to share preserves with my loved ones this time of year.
Besides just being an excellent gift, there are a few other great reasons to make this jam. For one, cranberries are on sale, so it’s a good time to stock up (stick the bags straight into your freezer so they can brighten a soggy spring day down the line). It’s also the peak season for citrus. Grapefruit, clementines, oranges, Meyer lemons–now is the time to enjoy these great fruits, and marmalade preserves those bold flavors for the long, chilly months ahead.

What is calcium water – I don’t think I have ever seen that called for. Love your recipe for the rainforest crackers!!!!
Hi Nancy, Calcium water is something only used by the brand Pamona’s Pectin. If you are using another type of pectin, use pectin only according to the instructions that come with the pectin. With regular pectin you may want to go a bit easier on the pectin and add more only as needed. So glad you like the recipe.
