feedback for "Babble Best: Changing Tables"

  1. Holy moly! 2 GRAND for a changing table? Are you sure you all aren't high?

Yes, these are all lovely furniture items but seriously, if you get more than 1.5 to 2 years out of a changing table, consider yourself lucky.  Do you really want to drop that much cash on furniture  with such a short lifespan? For 2 grand, I could get an entirely new living room set and
    a flat screen TV.

We bought a fabulous, simple, and sturdy table at Target for around $100. Now at 15 months and 23 lbs., our little squirmer will soon be too big for it and we won't feel bad when it gets retired since we didn't have to cut into his 529 to pay for the darn thing.

  2. We have the Pottery Barn one, and we like it. My daughter is now 2 1/2, and the drawers are easy for her to open and close, and she likes to help pick out her own clothes.

The negatives? The white coating can chip easily, especially on corners on top. The other negative about the top? The hard corners near the changing pad. Once, when my daughter was much younger, she threw herself back and whacked her head good on a corner. After that, we bought one of those table edge cushion things and stuck it on there.

  3. Thanks for your feedback on the article.  I agree that $1K is a lot to spend.  That´s why the I selected expensive models that converted into usable pieces of furniture. But if you just need a temp. station for diapering, Target is a great way to go.  --Nicole

  4. Target makes a corner changing unit that's about $130 that I'd recommend over any of these, honestly. Most changing tables (except the Stokke, I think?) are sideways-facing. I really find our corner one from Target, which faces the baby's diaper end towards you, easier to work with than anything fancy I've tried at a friend's house.

  5. We put a changing pad on a dresser. It works just fine.

  6. Anyone who spends more than $200 on a changing table will be up against the wall when the revolution comes.
