feedback for "The Babble List: 10 Toddler Vacation Tips"

Great list. I'm trying the band aid box next flight. I'm already a big believer in getting suites whenever funds allow. Though I'm getting very hesitant about vacation homes and B&Bs. We recently rented a place off VRBO and despite multiple conversations with the owner discussing our young toddler, we ended up staying in a virtual museum where my son couldn't touch anything and the highchair we were provided was as antique as the rest of the furniture. No fun.

We're taking a transatlantic trip with our soon-to-be 11 month old next month, so I'll be sure to hit that dollar aisle...
Also, numerous people have told us to call the airline and try to get a bulkhead seat, for the floor space.

Bring a baby monitor, even if you don't use it at home anymore! The suite makes all the difference in the world.

I'd be wary of using a local sitter in a place I am not from...
Band-aids/box is a great idea...
On our trips, we take naps as they come and don't force them...if we're out and about and our daughter is not crabby, we'd forego the nap and do an earlier bedtime...or, she would nap in her stroller or carrier...
On a recent trip to Spain, we were on East Coast time the whole trip, but it worked well with Spain's customs of being up late, our bodies' 6 pm was Spain's midnight...we all slept from about 1 am til 10 am...

Bulkhead seats are a great idea for the leg room, and it's useful to have the space for the little one to dance or play!
I've seen a lot of bulkhead seats with tables that fold out of the armrest, instead of folding down from the wall in front. With a kid who's old enough to manage it, I like a non-bulkhead seat with the table that folds down from the seat in front. There's at least 20 minutes of entertainment in the folding table. Put the table down, fold it up, put it down, fold it up...
Both styles seem to allow my son to spill his drink on me, however!

Great ideas! Don't forget to pack some books. Vacations can be busy - with a "go go" attitude. Children need downtime, even ones that are too old to nap. Reading over the summer is so important, so that school-age kids don't slide backwards and preschool kids are still building reading skills. Pack one or two favorite picture books, then use today's technology to bring new stories along, via digital books. Sites such as www.movingpicturebooks.com bring stories to life by animating books on your laptop, while www.MobiStories.com can be downloaded to mobile devices so kids can enjoy a story anywhere. They even have iPhone/iTouch apps of the MobiStories titles in the iTunes store for immediate download, when you need to soothe a savage toddler beast. Keep kids reading, even on vacation!

These are some good tips, but I disagree about the bulkhead seats,
unless you have an infant who will sleep on the flight. Flight
attendants will not let kids "dance and play" in the walk-thru in front
of the bulkhead seats. I got a lot out of this article about flying
with little kids:

Be careful with baby monitors in other countries, there may be problems with the frequencies it uses. The frequencies might be in use by other services abroad (e.g. military, cell phones, etc.)
