Kate Hudson: I'm A Strict Mom

Actress Kate Hudson is mom to Ryder Russell (dad is Chris Robinson) and although the 29-year-old was raised in a carefree home by her free-spirited mom, actress Goldie Hawn and stepdad, actor Kurt Russell, Kate admits she's a strict mom.

Kate talks to Metro.com about marriage, divorce and motherhood. Here are some of the highlights:

Would you get married again?
"Maybe, it depends. I haven’t become cynical. I would consider marriage if it was important to the other person."

What makes marriage so fascinating to people?
"Most girls grow up with weddings as a big dream… It’s a billion-dollar industry. Everybody at some point looks forward to the day they get married. The idea of celebrating your relationship with somebody is something everyone looks forward to in their lives. Unfortunately, it becomes clouded with all the stuff that comes with it. My friends reminded me that, for my wedding, I complained Chris wouldn’t do anything and my mom was driving me crazy. I must have blocked that insanity out."

How do you manage to have such a good relationship with Chris now you’re divorced?
"You’ve got to put the children first. If you can’t grow up in a marriage, you might as well grow up in the divorce. At least if you have to get divorced you have to do the right thing for the children. It’s not so easy but if it was we’d all be happily married for the rest of our lives with a million children, who are all perfect."

What has been your biggest challenge?
"My lesson in life has been to learn to say ‘no’. I’m a ‘yes’ person. I don’t like letting people down, so I had to learn to say ‘no’. That came very easily once I became a mother. ‘Can I have candy?’ ‘No.’"

Are you a strict mother?
"Yes. My parents were very tough and there’s something to be said for that. My parents were really hard on me and yet they are my favourite people in the world and we have the greatest relationship. That’s how I’d like to raise my child. You love them but you have to put your foot down."

Is it tough being followed everywhere when you have a child?
"I always go incognito in New York and London and no one bothers me. It’s only when you bring attention to yourself that people notice. If you have bodyguards and limos and you’re wearing Gaultier to get a cup of coffee, people will stop and stare but when I go for a run in Hyde Park, with my earphones in, wearing sweats, nobody cares."

Kate Hudson certainly doesn't mind speaking her mind or taking her clothes off. She has no plans to stop doing either. If you're into Kate, then I guess that's good news!

The 29-year-old actress isn't bothered by getting naked for magazine shoots. She actually finds the process liberating.

Hudson says, "I love doing them and I will do more. It's fun."

She adds, "Also, I've come to appreciate the skill of the photographer. It's a real art.

"I'm very interested in that side of it."

It might be a bit awkward for her son Ryder when he's old enough to put his mother's name in Google and up pops all sorts of stuff - nude pics and all! Kate has previously said her 5-year-old is already a boob man, so it's probably all good anyway.

Kate Hudson wants to stay single for a long time. The single mom of one wants to enjoy her time with her son Ryder, even though she enjoys being in relationships. Oh yes, we know Kate likes to date!

Kate said of not being with a man, "I'm actually enjoying being single right now because I really never have been. I feel good in relationships. I enjoy them, so I feel my best when I'm in something solid. But it's also the first time I've ever taken a step back and gotten a new perspective. So, I've made a conscious decision to try to stay single as long as possible."

Hudson plans to take time from work in the new year to devote time to her almost-five-year-old son.

She said of Ryder, "When he climbs into bed with me, wraps his arms around me and says, 'Mommy, the sun's up! It's a beautiful morning!' I'm sorry, do I really want to go to work then? No!"

Kate Hudson married rocker Chris Robinson in 2000 and they had a son, Ryder Russell in January of 2004. However, the couple split in 2006 amid rumors of Hudson cheating with her then co-star Owen Wilson. Their divorce was finalized last year. And although Kate has said she'd like more children, she may not ever marry again.

Kate, who has recently said she is back on the dating scene, isn't sure if she'll ever tie the knot again.

She tells Extra, "I don't know if I'll ever get married again. I don't know... It depends on who you end up with."

And despite being divorced from Ryder's father, she doesn't regret her marriage. She adds, "I don't regret a second of my marriage... Thank God for Chris.

"He made me partly who I am... We had a great time. We love each other deeply. We have an amazing son."

If she were to wed again, would she do anything differently?

The 29-year-old said she'd definitely take a honeymoon.

"I'd probably go on a honeymoon because we didn't get to go on a honeymoon... It was Christmas time and I had to go right to work. That'd be the number one thing."

Single mom and actress Kate Hudson is featured on the cover of British Harper's Bazaar Body Issue and while she looks great, she also looks slightly photoshopped. By slightly, I mean, majorly. She sort of looks like Keira Knightley. Seriously, her son probably wouldn't even recognize her!

Kate, after having some very public relationships since divorcing her son's father - Chris Robinson - is back on the dating scene.

She's been recently linked with baseballer Alex Rodriguez (shh, don't tell Madonna) and Transporter 3 actor, Jason Stratham (oh he's hot!). Hudson said of any future union - it had to be "honest."

She adds, "Other people can have 'understandings' and not discuss things and turn blind eyes - but I couldn't exist in a relationship that wasn't straightforward and honest and sacred in that department."

Kate seems like a bit of a ~~flake~~ free spirit doesn't she? I wonder if that's a good thing for her son Ryder, or not so good?

Kate Hudson doesn't like being smothered by men, however, she admits she used to do just that. She said she went through an obsessive phase and was a stalker towards her potential conquests. Hey, A-Rod had better watch out!

Hudson said of her behavior, "I don't like being smothered. If a guy is calling me all the time, it just seems so desperate. Although I did turn into a stalker once."

She adds, "I was completely crazy about this one guy and used to drive by his house and get my friends to call me if they saw him in a restaurant so I could show up. He wasn't stupid though - I think I made him really nervous!" Uh, ya think?

Kate is currently not dating anyone, although she was recently seen flirting it up with a mystery woman and also, Alex Rodriguez. Hope Madonna doesn't mind.

Hudson added to Look magazine that she loved being pregnant with her son Ryder. She hopes to get pregnant again. And being obsessive will probably help her find just the right guy.

"I can't wait to have more kids. It's the best thing ever. I gained 67 lbs and was proud of it. You just have to do what your body tells you, and my body told me I needed to eat a lot of ice cream! I would eat a tub a day." Hey, I like ice cream as much as the next person, but a tub a day? Lord.

Kate said, "But when you are pregnant and happy and jolly and fat, you don't care about the weight."

Kate Hudson is a serious flirt. Seriously. She was recently spotted getting cozy with some chick at the opening of the Miami Fountainebleau Hotel, which hey, if that's your scene, no problem. But I really wish Kate would make up her mind on what she wants - or who. She was reportedly spotted getting flirty with Madonna's boy toy, Alex Rodriguez. Kate has apparently, not seen Madonna's arms lately.

Kate - at the same event that she was making nice nice with some woman last weekend - was, according to sources, also getting close to A-Rod.

An insider told the New York Daily News, "Hudson had her arms completely wrapped around A-Rod's waist and every time he leaned over to talk to anyone she would pull him back toward her.

"They were laughing and giggling all night." Madonna's arms will crush her. They could probably crush A-Rod too. *Shudder*

You know what's coming next don't you? Kate Hudson will be reportedly pregnant with A-Rod's baby. I should probably just start the rumor now and get it over with. *Wink*

Kate Hudson and The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson were married on December 31, 2000. They have one son together - Ryder Russell - and unfortunately the couple split in August 2006. Their divorce was finalized last October. Since then, Hudson has dated a few different men - Lance Armstrong and Owen Wilson, just to name a couple. It seems like she's unlucky in love - with men, at least. Now comes word that Kate might be heading to the other team....

According to perezhilton.com, a "spirited" Kate Hudson got "very friendly" with a female model in Miami Beach at the opening of the refurbished Fontainbleau.

The source said, "She didn't care who saw them. They were being very open in public. It was quite shocking. They looked like they were having a GREAT time."

So. Kate likes to get flirty with women - doesn't mean she's heading the other way, but if she is, I hope she finds what she's looking for!

Kate Hudson, apparently isn't the sweetheart that everyone thinks she is. Hudson attended the premiere party for Rachel Zoe's new show, The Rachel Zoe Project lasy week and according to a source who was at the bash, said Kate was "in an absolutely foul mood," and spent the rest of the evening throwing tantrams. Oh do tell!

According to the NY Post, the insider dishes, "She was almost indignant waiting for a friend to arrive."

After the friend arrived, Kate and the friend got in to the elevator and Hudson got pissy that there were too many people around her.

"In the elevator she kept screeching, 'I'm freaking out! It's too much!' while waving her arms around."

Kate then dissed the press line that was waiting on the rooftop, saying, "I don't do that," and then proceeded to the corner and demanded a bodyguard. She did perk up when Kevin Connolly came over and flirted with her (surprise, surprise!!!) and then shortly after, she left for the Rose Bar.

Hudson's people denied any such behavior on Kate's part. Uh huh. Maybe she's crabby because she's PREGNANT.

Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson were married for six years - they share custody of their son Ryder, 4 - and divorced in 2006, and she says it's the best thing that ever happened to them.

Kate, 29, tells the October issue of Cosmo, "Look - we're still basically living together! We've figured it out. I mean, obviously, nothing's perfect, but I could never look at [our divorce] as a mistake."

She adds, "If anything, it's the best thing that ever happened to us."

Hudson previously said to W, "I married Chris, I had a baby with Chris, Chris will be in my life for the rest of my life."

She and Ryder talk to Chris all the time with iChat.

She continues, "No matter what is going on in my life, relationship-wise, Chris takes absolute precedence. It's important for Ryder to hear me say how wonderful Chris is, and how much Chris misses him."

I think it's great that the two get along - more kids would benefit if their divorces parents could think of the children first. I do think Kate might need to tone down her weird dating patterns, but she obviously is doing something right with making it work with her ex.
