    nanny bringing baby to work

I'm an attorney, and pregnant with my first child.  I hope to take 3 months maternity leave, and then take an additional year of leave from work.  In order to make this financially feasible, I am hoping to serve as a nanny for another infant who is around the same age as my baby.

I'm interested in gauging other's parents’ response to this idea.  I've worked with children throughout my life (I was a middle school teacher before law school, and I babysat for young twins throughout high school).  I'm confident that I could create an enriching environment for my baby as well as someone else's.  Because I would bring my own infant to work, I know that I would be particularly motivated to engage in stimulating play, read to the babies, sing to them, take them to parks, etc.  I love babies, and if I wasn't a lawyer, I think I'd want to be a nursery school teacher!

Are there parents out there who think the "bring-your-baby-to-work" idea would work?  I'd supply the extra equipment needed (e.g. a twins stroller, an extra highchair if needed, etc).

Re: nanny bringing baby to work

My advice is to make sure you make your schedule limitations clear. You sound like
a working parent's dream: well educated, experienced, and creative. However, if you're
ideally searching for a client whose baby is the same age as yours, when you decide
to go back to work, they'll be nanny-less with a kid under 2. Some parents might balk
at the non-permanence of the situation.

However, it's certainly possible that you'll find a client whose needs will fit your own
    plans. Good luck!
