    Yucky Green Boogers

my poor 10 month old son has gross green snot coming out of his nose, and I don't know how to get it to go away. He's not acting sick, so I'm trying not to medicate him, although I did give him some tylenol tonight to help him sleep easier. He has been restless the past few nights. I was always under the impression that green meant infection. Am I right? I don't know, but I made a doctors appointment  for him on Tuesday, just in case. Earlier in the year, his pediatrician  prescribed Zyrtec for his allergies, but it gives him a really bad stomache, so I don't give that to him anymore. Any suggestions?

Lots of fluids and maybe sit him the the bathroom with a hot shower running for a steam-room environment to loosen it all up.  Do you have a humidifier for his bedroom?  That seems to help The Jillian and her booger situation pretty well.

Ah, yes! I am a big fan of the humidifier. I had it going constantly when we first brought Avery home. He was born premature, and he has had nasal issues from the very start. Actually, I just managed to put the humidifier away for the first time last week, when I was cleaning up his bedroom. Looks like it's time to lug it back out.

I have had great help from a new aspirator that is infant friendly. My pediatrician recommended it instead of the blue bulb, which she said could actually damage the nose and make it worse ! It is called Nosefrida, and it's available only online. I hope it helps you and your baby.

What?  Don't talk crazy!  I love the blue bulb thingy.  It's my #1 Parenting Tool and the day I thought I lost it, I was planning to hit the maternity ward at the hospital as a "visitor" so I could maybe snag another one.  I suppose as long as I'm not jabbing it up Jillian's nose and hitting her brain, we're all right.

Porter ran up to me frantic yesterday with something on the end of his finger, shouting "Booger!  Booger!"  Like, what do you expect ME to do with it, kid?

I would also try plugging in one of the SudaCare's at night... it has really helped my daughter's congestion. I also find that bulbing + a warm rag w/ a dry end is the easiest way for removing boogies. Yuck.
