What did you get for your first father's day? Was it what you wanted? If you had to do it again, would you ask for something different?

 I am desperately seeking inspiration with what to get for my significant other for his first father's day .... he bought me a pearl necklace, something I'll always have and treasure, for mother's day .... I am looking for something meaningful and timeless, but am curious what others have done and will do ...

I'm making a stepping stone for our front garden... It features photo marbles of Lola and him as well as other carvings... I got a kit at Michael's.

I don't think Mother's & Father's day should be about material presents really. I want to instill in my daughter that crafting/making something/drawing/etc is the route to go... While there won't be much instilling this year (at 10 months) I still think it is important to kick the tradition off right. :)

We went to our local pottery painting shop and painted a mug, accenting it with two, lovely, sloppy, 9 month old baby handprints. I picked it up (and hid it) on Friday and I was pleasantly surprised w/ the results.  I used a baby carrier and the folks at the shop were super helpful, but you may find it useful to bring a friend along to help you get the handprints on the mug.

MY HUSBAND ASKED TO HAVE HIS GOLF PUTTER ENGRAVED...TO WHICH I REPLIED "YEAH RIGHT", BUT AFTER THINKING ABOUT IT I DID BUT WITH THE PHRASE "PROPERTY OF COLIN'S DAD."  HOPE HE LIKES IT :o)
