DS is 9 months (almost 10 months) old. He was exclusively BF'ed until about 7months, when he began weaning himself. We began supplementing with bottles and he did really well going back and forth between the two. Because I was still nursing, we nevre switched him to a faster flow nipple.
In the past week, however, he's beginning to get frustrated with the bottle and pushes it away in favor of nursing. But I barely make milk anymore so while I'll let him tug on me, he gets frustrated again because he is hungry and I'm not producing enough for him.
I'm wondering if it is worth it to go out and buy the faster flow nipples for him. We were planning on trying to wean off the bottle around 1 year, so I don't want to spend the money if he's only going to be taking the bottle for another month or so. But perhaps it would be worth it because some children take a bottle past one year? I'm just confused and unsure about what to do.
Some extra information: we use the Avent bottle system, so a package of 3 nipples cost almost $6. Also, he does drink from both a sippy cup and a "big person" cup; however, we have dollar store sippy cups that barely stop the flow of the water because when we tried to give him the Avent sippy cups, he refused them (he either can't figure out how to pull out the liquid or he is too lazy to do so. At any rate, he will not drink from them.)
What do you think I should do?
