What happened to threads that were on yesterday?

There was one on elective c-sections and another on raising children in the city??

One was titled "Where do we live? Where do we raise our children?"

    Hi Minty70,

I'm the moderator, I'll look into what happened to the posts, but rest assured, they were not deleted or moved by anyone here.

    Best,

    MaryP

The threads in question were bumped to page 2 (or 3) as new threads have been added or bumped to the top.  At the top and bottom of the page, there are the links for the next pages.

     Hope this helps!

Re: What happened to threads that were on yesterday?

Unfortunately, like approximately 99% of all web discussion boards in the world, this one has a horrid, horrid user interface that throws away all the lessons learned in developing good nntp and e-mail clients since, oh, 1970. They basically work fine if there's a total of a dozen or fewer active posters, or if you don't mind just doing a sort of hit-and-run thing where you occasionally drop in to see what the current hot topics are and then forget about it.

There's an option to subscribe to a topic by e-mail, which, when you think about it, is a direct admission that the interface is awful.

Do I have a suggestion for something better? No, but I'll tell you when I see it. :)

Thanks Matt. We're trying to work out the kinks. So we welcome any suggestions to make the system more user friendly.

    Re: FAQs/Help

The Community has gotten a bit unwieldy, which is good because it means Babble is growing -- but it does make it hard to keep up if you miss even a day.  Perhaps folders with general themes would be useful.

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for the suggestion. We're coming up with the best way to organize the threads.

You'll be seeing the changes in the next day or two.

    Re: FAQs/Help

    hi -

a brief forum suggestion - we should always be able to see the thread starter on the main thread index page.  as the boards become more active and more of a community, people will seek out threads made by their friends and those they trust - or if they see any on the homepage made by someone they know/like, they'll be more interested in opening/reading/contributing.

     just my two cents!

    Um, how do you post?

    Hi MaryP,

I belong to many boards, but I have never seen such a confusing one such as this.  How do I post to a thread without hitting "reply" in an existing post?  I looked and looked.

I'll post in introductions as soon as I figure out how to!

Re: Um, how do you post?

    NEVERMIND!

On other boards, if you hit a reply button within a thread, it quotes that post...

    and here it doesn't.

Okay, I am getting my bearings.  Sorry...carry on!
