Just an FYI - infant circumcision does not have to be performed like that. We are Jewish and are about to have our 2nd son. Our 1st son's circumcision took place at our home, where he was cradled in his grandfather's arms while his dad and the mohel (ritual circumciser) performed the procedure that took all of a minute. We had put some numbing cream on him before hand, ahd he cried a little during the process, but after I was able to take him straight up to his room and in all of 10 minutes he was fine. We subsequently have had non-Jewish friends who have chosen to have their boys circumcised by the same person, because of how harsh a hospital circumcision is, all with most satisfying results. Please just know that there are other options...
