Hi!
I'm Fairy, mom to two kids who are mostly wonderful and sometimes little monsters. I'm pretty crunchy: babywearing, cloth diapering, extended breastfeeding, organic eating and so on. But I wear makeup every day, and wax my...well...ahem. I work at home so I can be with my kids and yet send my kids to daycare/preschool so they'll be out from underfoot. :-)
Excited to be in on this brand new community!

I'm Rachel, stay-at-home mama to 4-month-old Jillian. I don't have any one parenting philosophy that I subscribe to - I get all the information I can and then pick and choose what works for our family. So far, it's been a hell of a ride and they all say it just gets better. I made the baby giggle for the first time the other day so I believe it!

My name is Stephen and I'm a stay-at-home father of three. The twins, Libby and Henry, are 2 1/2 and baby Margaret was born on October 1, 2006. I'm a green-carded Canadian and have been living in Michigan for three years. Glad to see a readable magazine for parents. We received a free year of Parents magazine when the twins were born."Parents" is a misnomer as it should have been called Daddy Sucks. They devoted at most about half a page per month to issues like how to get your husband to change a diaper without gagging. "Progressive, creative urban parents." Mmmm.... I don't know whether I qualify. When we read the piece about Babble in the NY Times on Sunday my wife remarked that urban must be a code word for New York. Well we live in the Mid-West in a small town. Progressive? I am Canadian after all. Creative? Self-praise is worthless.

I'd like to compose a funny little intro but my son is screaming for Beedo(Playdoh), and my nerves are shot at the moment.
I'm dipping one toe in, since I think the target demo for this site may be a little bit Gruppie for my tastes, but I do have urban and progressive down. Like one of the previous posters, I do not strictly follow any individual parenting philosophy. When you have one as wild as my son, it's all about survival, baby. I'll talk about anything, as long as honest opinions are welcome.

Hi.. I learned of this website from an old friend (she writes the blogs "Straight from the Bottle").. I love this site already. I have a 20 mth. old little girl named Paige. She keeps me busy with her constant demands and I am always looking for new ways to distract her from EVERYTHING she wants! Ugh.. :) She doesn't take no for an answer... she is very strong willed.
We just moved back to So. Cal from Japan and it feels so good to be home! I am excited about meeting people, sharing ideas and getting advice!

I'm not urban, I'm metropolitan. My husband, daughter & I live in a suburb of Philadelphia, so we get the best of both worlds, I like to think: small town environment in close proximity to urban cultchah.
I'm pleased to see the different perspective Babble is bringing to the general conversation about parenting.

I'm Peter (hence my creative user name), a 32-year-old, happily married dad to twin Lads Miles and Porter (9/27/04) in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of D.C. I'm a nocturnal pseudojournalist, an editor for a company that compiles summaries of news for various clients based on what's in the papers, and so I basically read newspapers for a living. That's how I saw the New York Times piece on Babble, and I was pleased to be one of the first to join up once you launched.

Hey, I'm Kate all the way from 'Nuuuu Zeeeeland'. Am checking out this site on the recommendation from the Drunken Aunt in our family, my lovely sister. Looks refreshingly interesting, which makes a change from other parenting sites I've seen. I have 2 boys, a 2yr old and a newbie, only 2 weeks old. God, I'm tired! See you round.

I just signed on as well. And I'm just as clueless about being part of "an online community" as I am about parenting! I don't know if I'm replying and posting and threading and all that like I'm supposed to. It seems that's all I do now, as a mother to a 14 month old - second guess myself. Should we put him down for a nap? Is it too early? Should we give him a snack first? What if he's not hungry? Are we pushing him into an eating disorder? But it's getting more and more fun, especially as I get more and more sleep. Glad to be here. Love the site. Someday maybe I'll post a photo, if I can figure out how to do it.

I'm Tara. I live in Iowa, U.S.A. with my husband, 1 year old son, and dog. Some might think that "Iowa" and "urban" are mutually exclusive but they'd be wrong.
I am a musician and fiddle teacher as well as a stay at home mom. Glad to be here!

I'm Julie (obviously) and I'm the mother of an almost four-month-old. I teach, or at least will teach starting after break, at a high school and moonlight once in a while as a graphic designer. I do like what I see so far at Babble--and you've got a bunch of great bloggers!

I'm Connie, mother to an 8.5 month old boy - Tristan. I might be the odd one out here, but I'm a single parent. Hopefully I'll have a slightly different perspective to add to the conversation. I've lived in the Philladelphia area for seven years and then 2 and a half years ago I moved to Charlotte, NC. I lived in the city for 2 years and just recently moved about 15 minutes outside the city limits. So far I love what I see here and as a habitual unconventionalist, I can't wait to see what else this site has to offer! It's great to meet all of you and I can't wait to hear more! HAVE AN AWESOME DAY!!!
