The Upside Down Show - 2nd season write in campaign

My child and I adore this show, it's creative, imaginative and quite a breath of fresh air where children's television is concerned...but we're in serious need of new episodes! Over at the Umbilical Brothers site there's a campaign being launched to write to the network for a second season of the show. I thought I'd point it out here to reach out to as many parents of toddlers as possible.  If you also love the show, please go to the home page of the Umbies and find out what you can do to help make a 2nd season possible.

I've written in...hope you will too.

Is there talk that there won't be a second season?  I get the impression it's pretty popular.

Actually Shane and David just posted on their website (June 2007) that Nickelodeon and Noggin USA will NOT be renewing the show. Such a shame. It was one of the few shows out there that encouraged imaginative play and was also entertaining for the entire family.  Thank god for TIVO that's all I have to say.  Just another reason why I hate corporate america...always looking out for the bottom line dollar and now what's truly entertaining and good for the masses.

It is a great show.  Very fun to watch.  I also like Jack's Big Music Show (as do my kids) though I could do without so much puppetry.  [rolling my eyes at all the neon fluff]

Are these guys really brothers?  They look like it but I find it curious that they have different last names.  Anyone know why?

If these networks drop it I'm sure someone else would be happy to pick it up.

Hi Natasha... No, Shane and David aren't brothers (although god knows they sure act like it). They met in Drama school in Australia in 1988 and became fast friends.

I do hope someone else tries to pick up the series..I've toted the advantages of the series for a long time and to only have 13 episodes of this fabulous show is a sad thing. And their adult humor is just as funny. Think of it as a kid's show for adults..kinda like stand-up slapstick. Google the Umbilical Brothers and you'll find their website if you wanna find out more about them. They're a couple of really great guys.

What a major bummer. I've just written Noggin voicing my disappointment; not that it'll do anything.

Dude, why oust Shane & David over Max & Ruby? Those bunnies make me homicidal. And I won't even touch on Dora and Diego ...

    Boo Noggin. Just. Boo.

That is a serious major bummer. My 17-month old stops in his tracks for that show. The Wonder Pets is a good show but the darn duckling annoys me. She needs to speak better. Noggin apparently is not interested in what makes the children happy...Glad I taped the episodes.

What needs to get cancelled is Yo! Gabba Gabba. What, exactly, is the POINT of that show??? It's horrible, and I can't even understand the planning that went into it.

I know it's way late, but I wrote Noggin anyway - I just heard The Upside Down Show won't be back. Such a bummer. I'm sure Noggin will be happy to release DVDs for the show for all of us who want it back... $$$

Yo! Gabba Gabba is like being on drugs. I feel like I am tripping on that show. It makes no sense not bringing that show back.TUDS actually held a very little boy's interest for a half an hour.

You're late! I just read online that the show was to be cancelled. Did this after Noggin went to 24 hours and the only time "Upside" was on was at 4:00AM PST (my kids get up annoyingly early, but not that early).

My kids love this show (me too actually) and I also sent emails expressing my disappointment  at the show's cancellation.

    Will it make any difference...

    Here's wishing.

I am very late to this game, but I just wrote in as well.  I had no clue it had been cancelled.  Not only does our 2 year old stop in his tracks to watch but so do my husband and I.  I simply love it!  Why is it that intelligent and witty children shows are ousted for crap?  I just can't understand their reason behind cancelling it.  Most of the shows make me want to poke my own eyes out.  I am deeply saddened.

I just found out that it is canceled.  My son LOVES this show. he watches it every morning at 7:00am while getting ready for daycare.  He cracks up.  It is so funny to him!  It wil be very sad when i have to explain to him that we can not watch it anymore.  cant' even buy a DVD of it.

Upside Down Show on DVD in PAL version.

Yes, we in the Umbi-forum have known about the cancellation for quite some time now.  BUT the show is being made available on DVD!

Right now it's only available in PAL format (for Aussie fans) but I have a multi-region DVD player so it plays on that AND my computer for my son to enjoy anytime.  Volume 1 has Barber Shop and Art Museum (my personal fav).  I know the distributor is investigating producing the DVDs in NTSC versions for all the US fans as well.  Volume 2 will be available starting March 10th. Not sure of the episodes on it yet.  If you don't want to purchase the DVDs at the Aussie sites you can always search for them on Ebay..I know they're there.

Lets keep getting people to write and complain to Noggin.  They just have to bring it back.. no fair.

Where is the "Keep The Upside Down Show Petition"?  I want to sign it.

It's been nice having a show that encourages the viewers to participate (which my daughter totally does and literally puts down her pretend remote when I put on her jacket in the morning and immediately picks it back up) without shouting at me (Dora).  It's been nice having a show that encourages imaginative play in such a cool simple way.

In short, that show is awesome, I think we need more of it.

You're all correct ... it's a GREAT show.  Both of my grandchildren just LOVE the show (ages 8 and 5).  I'm so sorry to hear that the show has been cancelled.  Just plain STUPID of the network ... apparently they just don't know what turns kids on.  DUH.
