Does anyone else think Max & Ruby is made by the Devil?

I hate that show. I've watched several 15 minute episodes w/ my daughter on Noggin and I just don't see the appeal. The shows on that channel are "supposed" to be educational (which is quite a stretch sometimes). But this show goes beyond them all -- absolutely no redeeming qualities. If it does have a lesson it is in how to be a brat. That dang Max bunny does whatever he wants and I've yet to see any repercussions for his actions. It's always "Oh, Max". What the heck? Why teach kids to be naughty? Give the time slot to something that displays good behavior, teaches something and/or encourages interactive play.

Anyone else agree? Or am I missing something?

I'm not sure that I would go as far as "made by the devil" but I will say they are annoying!  My two youngest daughters like Max and Ruby as well.  They don't bug me near as bad as some of the "educational programs" that are on were the characters speak  improperly!  ie the teletubbies.  The kids that are watching that crap are learning language skills and they pick up on that and think that speaking that way is ok.  I know that this isn't the case but my husband did make a good point when we were talking about my oldest girls (they are his from his first marriage)  MJ and Jamie are 12 and 10 and neither one of them can pronounce their "r's" and he blames shows like the teletubbies for that.  I wouldn't go that far but children that are having speech difficulties are definatly not helped!  I can tell you though that cartoon network is made by the devil after 9pm.  I watched it one evening and almost died from the content!  I had to put a parental block on a childs network after 9!  That is crazy!

I cannot stand the cartoon network. My 6 year loves it, I did have it blocked for a long time.

I actually love watching max and ruby.  If I could say that I had a favorite, I would perfer it over many of the other options out there.  What ever happened to "Little Bill".  I really like the slower paced cartoons.

My daughter puts on Max and Ruby just to annoy me! She also brings home Amelia Bedelia books for the same reason! Thank goodness she loves Little Bill- that is awesome and a nice break from the Disney Channel shows!

Hey Amber - I'm sure you guys have considered this, but just wanted to suggest a speech therapist, to make sure the girls don't have any physiological problems that are preventing them from making the sounds correctly.  I am not in any way endorsing the teletubbies (shudder) or other bad pronunciations, but I wonder if the girls wouldn't have been exposed to enough correct articulations of "r" at school and play and otherwise to mitigate the effect, especially after so many years?  Sometimes, kids do need help learning to speak properly - leah had been having quite a bit of trouble and goes to speech once a week now and is doing much better!  Just a thought, in case you hadn't thought of it!

I think Max and Ruby is sweet, Max is an active toddler, whom Ruby is helping learn from his mistakes, and in the mean time is learning patience and understanding.  As far as cartoon network, it is pure trash!  One minute your kid is watching Scooby Doo and the next something  completely unsuitable for even my 10 year old and thats during the day.  We try to not watch any commercial tv,  no kid needs to be bombarded with the number of advertisements telling them WHAT THEY HAVE TO HAVE!  Our children shouldn't be in front of the tv they should be playing and using their imagination.  Turn the tube off and then when you do allow it, it will be more special.  You will be very surprised at how quickly your children adjust to the no tv rule and how quickly they find other things to do.  I know I was shocked and think I've gotten to know them and their personalities better.

i love max and ruby!  and any other books by Rosemary Wells - they are very gentle, and funny, and i think Max's bad behaviour is to spark dialogue between you and your child as you read the books together - don't know if it really can serve the same function as a tv show, but my bigger children can def. see and identify things the littlers are doing that are like max :) and they think it's hilarious - and they point it out to the littlers...  I hate overly preachy shows where everything has to be really really obvious, though... and it seems everyone else in the world loves them, since every good children's book is turned into a boring sermon on global warming lately... argh...

For a time, my 3-year-old was ADDICTED to Max & Ruby - now that he's seen just about every episode about 946 times, he's moving on.  They're perfectly harmless shows - although I do question how a brother and sister bunny, obviously children, manage to have their own house, never go to school, and have no parents (excepting wise Grandma bunny, who, oh yeah, doesn't live with them).

And as bratty as Max can be (getting in trouble with little reprecussion), Ruby and her abject bossiness to everyone with whom she comes into contact is just as annoying.

this show is horrible. It teaches kids not to listen. Ruby will tell Max No and he does the exact opposite and never gets in trouble. I used to let me daughter watch it but when she started doing whatever she wanted and responding to me in one word answers and constantly repeating it that was it. No more Max and Ruby. There is no educational value to this show at all.

Yes. I know it is made by the devil because despite my lifelong hatred of all cartoons, this one has a timer in my Tivo and I sit and watch it, rapt, lost, in unexplainable and random thrall of these two cartoon bunny rabbits.

I have until now been able to admit this behavior even to myself, but now that I have typed it, I can no longer pretend that the timer isn't there, pretend that I do not watch Max and Ruby even before Chelsea Lately. Or even The Hills or similar fine quality trashy reality shows that I am accustomed to enjoy.

Nope. New York and Mr Boston and the Kardashians have to wait until I get my Max and Ruby on.

Maybe I can justify it by saying that the art is better, this artist draws the bestest.cartoon.bunrabz.ever and that's um, the only reason I watch it. Yeah! That's why.

I just love it for the art.
