Space saving ideas - For those of us who live in a shoebox

I came across this in my quest for somewhere to put a stroller in our small condo.

Im sure a bike rack or large hook from a hardware store would work fine too.

Anyone else come across any good space savers? It seems many people on this board are urban dwellers with space issues like me.

Actually, I agree with the articles that say you don't need a changing table -- it just takes up space.  That being said, it's hard to change my daughter in her crib now that she flips around like a ...um, like a flipping around baby who doesn't want to hold still for a diaper change.

But at least it's one less piece of furniture in her not-even-close-to-a-bedroom-sized-new york-bedroom.

We just keep our stroller in the car, since our 700 sq foot loft is also a 3rd floor walkup.  We did save space by getting a mini crib that we keep in our bedroom (we only have the one).  We weren't planning to get a changing table, but the dresser we got from Ikea (the Trofast collection) for baby clothes and toy storage had an optional accessory that turns it into a changing table as well for only $15 extra!  We got two dressers, and I have to say having an area dedicated to diaper changing and storage has made our lives much easier!  We also got storage benches from the same collection to put in our entryway, and that's where we keep diaper bags, the car seat, our mail, etc.

When our son was born we lived in a 300 sq foot space.  We built a loft and put him in our former closet.  We kept our stroller at the bottom of the stairs (no car).   It was hard.  So we moved to the Bronx.  I know it's not a hip NYC location, but now we live in a gorgeous pre-war 1,000 sq foot 2 bedroom that's walking distance from the zoo and the Botanical Gardens.

I keep reading in all the mags that new parents are supposed to be able to afford those 500-650k apts in Brooklyn and Queens.  There are those of us out there who do not fit that picture.  We spent $109k on our apt and we got a grant.

    Good luck
