Daddy O's - Where the Cool Dads Go! A new dads network

I am a work-from-home dad / SAHD that runs a digital sticker printing company which started with a kid specific product.  (Contact me if you want to know more...)
I am also the one responsible for taking the kids to school, picking them up, setting up play dates, driving to drum lessons etc. etc.

My wife and I have had a complete role reversal as far as careers go and so far things have been working out fine. She is now the primary income earner as I try to build my business.

As a side project, I am in the process of setting up an online social network for dads called "Daddy O's".
(There are plenty of groups for moms so I thought it would be cool to set something up for dads.)
Currently, I have a group set up on Face Book and if you are interested, let me know and I will send you the link.

The goal for Daddy O's is to create a place where dads can connect to discuss relevant topics as they may pertain to parenting, work, being a SAHD, leisure activities etc.
As a father of a 9 year old boy and 5 year old girl, we're always trying to find things to do as I am sure many other parents are as well.
One "program" Daddy O's is currently promoting is a "Beginner Club" for skate boarding & BMX for kids 13 and under.

Although the group would be "region specific" for functions & programs, I would welcome anyone to join that can contribute as far as thoughts or ideas go.

I would also appreciate any input because I think this has potential to be great but dads are different than moms when it comes to joining groups etc.

    Thanks

    -mike-

Sounds like a great idea! My husband and I both work from home, so he does just as much stuff as I do: drops off the kids, makes lunches, playdates, etc. It is great that the stigma of a 'house husband' is being dropped now that dads are starting to stay at home more.

Young infants develop a strong attachment towards the mom. At this age, they are completely dependent upon her for their needs, such as being fed or being put to bed. It is only when they start growing older that children start accepting the dad as a parent.

With all due respect, this: "At this age, they are completely dependent upon her for their needs, such as being fed or being put to bed. It is only when they start growing older that children start accepting the dad as a parent" is only true if you train your kids this way.

I'm with you, bookmama - my husband is home with the baby in the mornings and I get him in the afternoons. I'd say that hubby is a completely equal parent, especially when I pumped at work and now that we've moved almost fully to formula. My husband can put my son to bed, but he's only home at night on weekends, but he puts him down for 2 out of 3 naps a day.

However, Emily didn't make clear what age - just "this age". Are we talking 1 or 2 months? I'm just saying that her post leaves out a lot, not that I support her.

I like your idea, I have a blog for dads (but Mom's enjoy it too) called NonToxicReviews.com  I review toys for kids ages birth-10 and offer lots of DIY projects (like make a manly diaper bag) I don't do Face Book or MySpace or anything, but I'd be interested in exchanging links, and putting you on my blogroll... let me know if you're interested.
