My guy number 2 will not eat. We started him at 6 months on the standard stuff but he will not take anything from you so we would put it on spoons and let him do it himself - sporadic at best. Since about 8 - 9 months I have given him finger foods but he is really not interested. At mealtimes, the only thing he will eat is spears of ripe pear, sometimes melons, cheerios. Lately he is raiding my cupboards and has developed a taste for pretzels. I am trying not to make a big deal of it as he is a happy healthy child but I would like to reduce the amount of breastfeeding I'm doing. By the way, he will not take a cup or bottle of anything and we suspect that he has a dairy allergy. I really have tried and continue to try a variety of things and since he seems to prefer spears rather than chunks, I have been quite creative in presenting him with all kinds of interesting cuts of things. I know that part of this is personality and he had a rough first year with being ill a lot, but I am now concerned that there are other issues at play i.e. swallowing, allergies? He got his first teeth at 11 months and now has 8 so he's got the gear. We always make sure he sits in his chair for meal and snack times so he is included in the family routines. What else can I do? We don't have access to any "feeding therapists" - we live north of 60 in Canada and the Pediatricians we've seen have not been overly concerned because he looks so healthy (thanks to mommy's breastmilk, I think...). Any ideas??
