One person stated that childern loose the ability to breastfeed by age 7. Tell that to the lady in th UK that is STILL breastfeeding her 8 year old (nine by now). And the blonde woman I came across on the internet that is breastfeeding (beleive it or not) her 12 year old daughter!

The other people on this forum - the boy who stopped by peer pressure. Where I live peer pressure is getting the crap beat out of someone at 7 years if caught breastfeeding!!

The boy that is in a mental health facility for breastfeeding at 11 - D U H !!

I strongly disagree with Robert Holness , it is perfectly natural for a child to breast feed till any age they feel comfortable, we dont breast feed out of pleeasure but for the best for our children. If i want pleasure from it as i sometimes do , then my husband will have a little sucky of my " teet" and he did use to feel incomfortable about the milkk being produced but hw has now become quiet attached to the sensation so really the best for both my loved ones

I think that breast feeding is acceptable up until thew child is able to feed its self after that i feel it is verging on the perverse. this to me is a display of the parents inabilty to accept the cild is now a child and not a baby! i think that i you feel the need for someone to be sucking on your teet then perhaps you should talk to your husband and let your kids grow up normally

I am discusted by Gerrad's comments. Vodka for a seven year old.. You should be ashamed.

Breast feeding until a late age is a tradition in my local area of Croydon. All my kids were breast fed until they were quiet old, with my middle son not stopping until the age of 12. His older brother and younger sister stopped a little earlier at the age of 5, which I beleive was their own choise.

It is a natural and beutiful thing, and should be cherished for as long as possible.

I think it is diabolical that a mother is aloud to do this. I was pysically sick when i read this blog. How can it be right? If she has gone this far, when will it stop? Id rather my seven year old drink vodka than his mothers milk. It would teach him more about life, and his friends would look up to him, rather than laugh at the sight of him hanging of his mothers teet.

i think that it is a wonderfull thing for a mother to give to her child , My wife has been breast feeding our son since he was born and he is now 8 years old , i strongly believe that this has helped him become a stronger person. He is above average in all his classes and has the strenght of a 16 year old . If every family did this i really believe that it would changed the human race and make us allot stronger and less likely to suffer from illness , We are currently exspecting our 2nd child and will breast feed till we feel the time is right , as for our son we will remain breast feeding till he wants to , and currently he enjoys it and actually looks forward to it . We have no problem with our son at school and his school is very accomadating with this and allows time for his mother to go into the school to breast feed during lunch times

Hi.

My wife has been breast feeding our offspring for the last 16 years. We have a 16 year old son who has recently been placed in a mental health facility who nurished on the breast for 11 years, our youngest son of 13 years old fed for 8 years and only stoped after pier pressure form his mates and our doughter 9 who is still feeding on a regular basis.

I beleive it is a wonderfull gift from a mother to her family and quiet frankley I also reep the benifits.

So now, instead of protecting them from disease by nursing them until their immune systems are fully developed, we inject them with vaccines starting on day 1 when they have barely had a chance to draw their first breath. Yay evolution!

yes we do evolve as a species that is why children who are fed on breastmilk sustitutes are at a higher risk of developing diabetes, childhood cancers,menigitis and other infections such as gastro enteritis,ear and chest infections, higher cot death rates and so on.

Nobody should judge a mothers feeding choice(formula or breastfeeding) or how long she intends to breast feed her child. Children at somewhere between 7 - 8 years loose the ability to breastfeed.

This is not the dark ages, species evolve. Breastfeeding until age 7 is not the only way to keep your children safe from disease. I also think it's unfair for people to assume everyone is judging...can't we think about topics, voice our opinions about how we ourselves would do things without being accused of judging others??

I weaned my nearly-five year old at the end of the summer or really he finally weaned himself; that was 2 1/2 years longer than his next brother. I wasn't going on any principle but what worked for him (& the fact that I could tolerate the duration). He just checked in that way for comfort more than anything morning & night. In the it all goes so fast belief, August feels far away & he's okay & so am I.

Just another thing to judge! Hmm...

Biologically, children are meant to be breastfed until 7 years. This coincides with the full maturation of the immune system. This is how the human race has survived by ensuring the young are protected from disease.

Yeah, I'm with Sarah. Just not right.

You gotta draw the line at least when they hit school. Kids may like it but that doesn't make it excusable. Kids also like playing with matches, eating ice cream for breakfast, and taping siblings to the wall. As parents we don't let them do these things because we set the boundaries. This is just another one of them.
