All I can say is - WOW! This is the first time I've seen the Onslaught campaign spot and I think it's great. It's about time somebody start bringing more attention to the media's distorted view of what beauty should be. I'm 34 now and I don't remember being too concerned with my looks at all until I was about 13. Even then, my friends and I weren't nearly as concerned as girls today are.

It's not just the media that influences our young girls though. They also get ideas from their female role models. It's just not good to walk around saying how fat you are, etc. Young girls pick up on that. Also, I can't tell you how many moms, aunts and grandmas either complimenting young girls for being so thin and pretty or complaining because they have too much baby fat left on them or they need to lose a little weight.

My daughter is only 14 months old, but I hope I can instill in her the belief that it is just as (if not more) important to a beautiful person on the inside as it is on the outside. I really just want her to be healthy and not worry about how much she weighs or if she's pretty enough. So many young girls these days are so shallow and are only concerned with their own image as well as the image of others.

This is great, but look deeper at Unilver/Dove and get disgusted. One product they super promote is skin lighteners called fair and lovely. A disturbing ad series can be found at bfnmusic's utube acct.
