So far this Weekly Check-Up feature has been almost wholly devoted to weight loss and exercise-- yours and your kids (she says wearily.) Daily weight checks = BIG NO-NO! They're not accurate and can make you feel discouraged very quickly. Healthy and sustainable weight loss takes a long time; you're not suppose to lose more than 1lb. per week.

Apparently the article pulled that bit of advice from WebMD. I'm surprised - they should know better.

I can't believe that was even suggested. Weight can fluctuate many pounds in either direction over the course of a day, so the only way to really see progress is to weigh weekly or preferrably monthly. And as you pointed out, this just puts unnecessary emphasis on the arbitrary numbers on the scale, when it's really about how you FEEL about yourself and your efforts that counts.
