Within my mother's life time it was illegal for my husband and I to marry. It took a Supreme Court case to make what common decency, let alone common sense, called for a reality. I'll bet McCain wouldn't dare say that interracial marriages are not o.k. but he's willing to try to hide behind the Constitution in order to discriminate against gays? Please. </p> <p> From a civil standpoint marriage is a contract entered into by two people. No reason that any two consenting adults shouldn't be able to make that contract and then reap the benefits and pay the penalties.
