But I decided this was important to spread (after all, I didn't actually out anybody myself) because if an incredibly dangerous decision has been made (the choice of Palin for VP) on the basis of crass pandering to homophones, that's newsworthy. And I don't think Rice has ever "presented herself" as straight. She hasn't addressed it one way or another.

Am I naive to assume that people should be taken as they present themselves with respect to their own sexuality?

Fortunately, this is all speculation. Hopefully.

Condi? Really???

She of the devastating Iraq policies and Iran instigations? The Soviet expert who did not foresee this most recent little war with Georgia? Really?

She may be a sister, but she is a war monger and a neo-con.

Perhaps her most redeeming quality is that she has consistently and emphatically renounced any interest in elected office, period. And for that I respect her.

(I actually like Obama, but other dem possibilities? Maybe, maybe not.)

I do think that the choice of Palin gives the lie to McCain's claim that he cares more about the country than winning an election. She is a gravely irresponsible--even dangerous--choice.

re: They Say: Sarah Palin is not a Lesbian (Nope, not Even a Lipstick Lesbian)

There were plenty of us in the Republican Party who understood that a McCain Campaign required Rice as his running mate, once Obama wimped out and picked Plugs. Rice's sexuality notwithstanding, a successful McCain Campaign required a series of long Hail-Mary passes and a serious flight to quality in a VP pick. Rice was simply far and away the best choice.

I'm not surprised that the AssClown RNC vetoed McCain's pick of Condi. These are people who are both out of touch with the rank and file and who proved as late as the spring of this year, in several Special House races in the South that were supposed to go Republican, that they couldn't beat Heinrich Himmler in a race for Mayor of Tel Aviv.

Smart Republicans are systematically ignoring the national party and, you'll find, are ahead in their races.

For her part, Palin was the only other choice McCain could possibly make in this environment. The male VP choices were all zombies, especially Romney. Palin will be a powerful candidate in the next cycle. Indeed, one of the reasons you are seeing some hostility towards her from conservatives is that the Romney people have already factored in a McCain loss and are starting to leak hard against what they see as a mortal threat to Mr. Mannequin. Palin is clearly operating as a new candidate this cycle. In 2012, she will be far different, and a far better candidate. It will be a contest between her and Jindal.

None of that relieves McCain of the obligation of picking Condi, which he should have done, for national security reasons alone. She would have wiped the floor with Biden. It would have been embarrassing. Gay or not gay.
