52-Year-Old Delivers Twins for Her Daughter

Here’s a surefire way to beat empty nest syndrome: move from your home in Michigan to be near your daughter in Arizona—and act as the surrogate mother of her twin babies.

That’s what Crystal Sirignano did after her 30-year-old daughter, Kendra, was unable to conceive after several infertility surgeries and treatments. Sick of watching her daughter suffer, Crystal offered to become pregnant again at 52 years of age.

A vegetarian and the owner of a gym, Super Mom Crystal gave up working out and succumbed to her pregnancy cravings for meat. She recently made herself into a proud grandmother by delivering healthy twin babies for her daughter and son-in-law.

If there is ever an EXXTREME Motherhood Olympic competition, my money’s on Crystal getting the gold. As for Kendra and her husband, the new parents have already achieved some modest fame of the EXXTREME variety by competing in NBC's American Gladiators. I can't wait to find out what happens once the twins are old enough to eat spinach.

It's a tale as old as time.

An American Gladiator boy meets American Gladiator girl story.

Said nimble-yet-hulking masses fall in love, adopt a girl, attempt unsuccessfully to also conceive. Sadness. Desperation. Then Grandma and her uterus step in.

This story has a happy ending: last week, Crystal Sirignano, 52, gave birth to her grandchildren.

The Michigan woman (and owner of a fitness center) served as a surrogate mother for her daughter and son-in-law, NBC's American Gladiator stars Kendra Sirignano and Aaron Simpson, both in their early 30s.

The healthy babies were delivered by Caesarean section; Domenic weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces, and his sister, Mia, weighed 5 pounds, 4 ounces.

What a sweet story. I mean, you don't dare criticize any of them because they'd probably kick your ass (including the newborns!).

Since the dawn of man children have pitted their fathers against each other in imaginary cage matches of strength, speed, agility and intelligence. “My father can kill a wooly mammoth with his bare hands.” “Yeah we’ll my father’s cranial capacity is like 1200 cubic centimeters.” “No Way!” “Yes Way!”

Now with the help of the Maharishi of Reality TV Mark Burnett, who brought us such appointment television as Pirate Master and Commando Nanny, NBC is doing what tar pit and school yard disputes could never do and that is match fathers against each other in an actual competition that will finally settle the debate of whose dad is better.

Premiering on February 18th "My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad" will be a series featuring four dads teamed up with their boastful offspring competing against other in contests that will challenge dad’s strength, smarts and ability to work as a team with his son or daughter.

Mimbo and father of two Dan Cortese, who hasn’t had a regular gig since Veronica's Closet, has been tagged to host what I am already calling American Dad-iators (Pause Dictation: Phyllis, please copyright American Dad-iators and then contact Fox Network about a possible rip-off to air this summer).

Not only is there a possible $50,000 grand prize at stake, but more importantly for the kids are the bragging rights to say that their Dad is better than, well, those other three dads.

Dad-iators ready? READY!
