I have to admit, when I saw the ad for the Peter Potty Toddler Urinal, I said to myself, "Who would buy such a thing?" But then, I'm the mom who steadfastedly refused to buy a kids' potty for not one but three potty-trained kids, preferring instead to have them go straight for the "big" potty. It's really all about the cleaning thing for me. I figure why have to clean one more appliance? But then, I wasn't "introducing" any 18-month olds to the toilet, either ("hi, toilet! meet the kid!"). So is this just about me and my own weird bathroom-slash-potty-training sensibilities? Maybe so.
But c'mon, an ugly plastic urinal just for kids?? (Perhaps brought to you by the same people who make Diaper Baggies? Are they just funning us here?) Seriously, is this a good idea? I mean, I get the thing about the standing up. I do. I have boys, too. They, or he actually, as the second one still isn't there yet, always stood up to pee. Sure, there's been some extra cleaning involved, but I figure it comes with the territory. But this kid-urinal seems so, well, high-maintenance. You've got to empty it out once in awhile or risk nasty overflow issues, and clean it, and you've got to make sure there's water for flushing in the wee little tank. And I'd hate to see that thing tip over. Ew. See what I mean? High maintenance. Not to mention that it reminds me of a Little Tikes toy, but for the bathroom.
I don't get it. What do you think? Would you buy this?
