Police in Sheboygan, Wisconsin arrested what must have been an awfully pale mother last week, when they found her two children locked in a freezing car while she tended to a "tanning emergency" at her local tanning salon.
The two kids, ages 10 and 23 months, were dressed warmly (the weather outside was 12 degrees) and suffered only "goosebumps." Their mother is expected to be charged with two counts of misdemeanor child endangerment. Police were responding to a phone call from concerned passersby, who noticed the children alone in the car, which was locked, but not running.
According to one one of the local officers, the mother was gearing up for a vacation, and felt that tanning "was a priority."
For her sake, I hope the tan was a good one, not one of those streaky, orange jobs that would make her look like a fool.
Oops, too late.
