No
doubt that ‘keeping up with the Joneses,’ i.e. Noggin, Nick Jr.,
Playhouse Disney et. al, had a hand in the Sesame Street Workshop's new
company-wide, multi-year initiative, “Word on the Street.” But all

early literacy for young children (ages 2-5), especially those most at
risk. Each new episode of
Sesame Street
will start with a new “Word on the Street” segment, which will feature
a celebrity introducing, defining, and using a new vocabulary word.
Also on deck for the new season: new “street” scenes, new animation,
and original live action films, all designed to expand a child’s
vocabulary, and give them tools to strengthen their literacy skills.
