It's got to be hard being Oprah. I mean, people rely on her and her
opinions as some sort of expert, and then feel justified in getting all
bent out of shape when something goes awry in those from time to time.
A rather lot to invest in someone you don't even know, isn't it? I
mean, I can snark all day about stuff like what happened at Oprah's
school in South Africa, but when it comes down to it, I really can't
say what goes on and how much someone like Oprah herself really has to
do with what's being held out in her name. Not that it absolves her of
the responsibility that goes along with her name, but it seems to me
that the flap about the kid's book that's been yanked from her recommendation list is way overblown.
