Bright Starts Star Teether Beads and Bright Starts Teether Beads, made by Kids II Inc. have been recalled due to the fact that these plastic teething rings pose a choking hazard. According to the voluntary recall, made after 24 incidents of product failure (but no injuries thus far) the
"flexible plastic ring that holds the teether beads in place can crack
or break, and the beads can detach, posing a choking hazard to infants."
That's right, the thing that your baby is supposed
to be putting in his mouth could come apart and choke him. I'm so glad they tested
those things thoroughly before putting them on the market. Did
you not know your baby volunteered for a free toy-safety testing
program? What, you didn't sign a release form for that?
The teething beads were sold
at "discount department and juvenile specialty stores" nationwide from
June 2006 through January 2007, for between $1 and $3. If you own this toy, please discontinue use immediately and contact the manufacturer for information on receiving a free replacement, or phone (877) 325-7056.
