My
maiden name was Fisher. Amy Fisher. As you can imagine, my quality of
life took a serious tick downward once the Long Island Lolita shot Mary
Jo Buttafuoco in the face, ruining the name for all good Amy Fishers
everywhere.
The thing is, my mother claims she had no idea she
was giving me one of the most popular girls' names of the 1970s. You'd
think she would have noticed that half the little girls on the
playground were named Amy (the other half being named Jennifer), but
it's true she couldn't consult the internet to find out the most
popular baby names according to the Social Security Administration, as
all you expectant parents out there can do. So, if you have a common
last name, these are the monikers you should avoid giving your new
baby, lest he or she resent you for the rest of your life.
