  Remember how all those Barbie accessories got recalled, because every toy ever has been recalled for lead paint? That means Barbie might have to go out (gasp) without being properly accessorized. • More Toy Breaking News: Mattel Recalls Another Batch, Cuz Every Dang Thing Is Toxic

  A third round of recalls coming from Mattel should be hitting us any minute now. A Fisher-Price toy and accessories to a Barbie playset will be pulled for, hmmm, could it be... excessive lead paint. Perhaps the toys were manufactured in Chinese factories. Ya think? Several hundred thousand units will be included. Oh and "the Consumer Product Safety Commission also said Tuesday it was considering a possible investigation of whether Mattel notified authorities as quickly as it should have in connection with the Aug. 14 recall." • More Casualties In Recall: Toy Manufacturer Suicide

  Cheung Shu-hung, head of Lee Der Industrial Co. killed himself last weekend in an apparent suicide. Lee Der supplied Mattel with Sesame Street and Dora toys which have now been recalled for excessive amounts of lead in the paint. Cheung may have been duped in this whole thing: "After the recall, Lee Der maintained that its paint supplier, Cheung's best friend, supplied 'fake paint' used in the toys, the Southern Metropolis Daily said." The Chinese government temporarily banned Lee Der from exporting following the recall.  Read More... • Breaking Broken Toy News: Recall Gets Bigger

  Okay, soon our children are gonna have nothing left to play with except sharp rocks and thumbtacks, both of which are apparently safer than most of what you buy at the local toystore. Mattel is recalling yet more toys made in China, and this time the recall includes "7.3 million play sets, including Polly Pocket dolls and Batman action figures, and 253,000 die cast cars that contain lead paint." Hear my cry: Not the Polly Pockets! You mean like the Polly in this photo...which is identical to one I'm looking at right next to my desk. And FYI, they already recalled some Pollys last November.  Read More...   I like labeling where things go and I love graphs, I think because both these things feed into my intense need for things to make sense. AJ at Thingamababy understands that and has created an in depth analysis, complete with thumbnails images of the recalled toys, of the recent massive Mattel toy recall. AJ notes the complete absurdity of many of the out-of-context toys being recalled, like for example, the Cookie Monster toy saxophone.
