If you are like Bridgette's family, you already know exactly who you are going to root for on Sunday. I am a Bucs fan, and my kids were born in Tampa so I've been brainwashing teaching them to root for Tampa Bay. Since both Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith are alumni (Dungy was the head coach and Smith was a linebackers coach) Tampa Bay coaches I am very torn. I haven't found my answer yet, although I would love to see Dungy hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
Varsity Dad (who happens to be Dan Shanoff) has the dilemma of who his kid should root for all broken down in this post. It comes down to four things as far as he is concerned: 1) Existing Allegiances - in his case college football allegiances, 2) Birthright, 3) His Father's Complicated Birthright (you are just going to have to read that part for yourselves) and 4) The Facts - Varsity Dad's son is nine months old and doesn't get to choose yet.
I concur. Once my kids really care for themselves they can decide to be raging Redskins fans for all I care. I mean - it's root, root, root for the home team, right? But for now, who are you making your kids root for?
