• Should Raising a Feminist Son be The Goal?

  If you have a son – and aren’t a raving douchebag yourself – then thinking about how to raise a boy without him being one is something you have been thinking about since you first heard the words "it's a boy." It seems like there is a lot of information out there about raising strong, independent, feminist girls, but very little about raising boys to respect women, discourage dehumanizing attitudes among their friends and generally be guys who see women as equal to themselves and deserving of the same rights and opportunities (including the right to not be harassed walking down the street, commented on and otherwise judged). • What a WAHD: Work at Home Dad's Day is Friday

  OMG everybody! Hop in the minivan right now and get to shopping! We almost missed Work At Home Dads Day!! It's Friday, June 13. Here's what the press release announcing it said: "Held each year on the Friday before Father’s Day, it is one day set aside to honor and celebrate those fathers who have elected to work or remain at home – either as home-based entrepreneurs, teleworkers, or full-time caregivers – as a means to improve family interaction, professional satisfaction, and balance between the two." • Pregnancy Discrimination Complaints On the Rise

  The Wall Street Journal reports that pregnancy-bias job complaints to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission were up by 14 percent this year, and up by 40 percent from a decade ago. Employers aren't allowed to discriminate against the with child in hiring, firing, and lay-offs--which doesn't mean they can't do all those things to you, it just means they can't treat you worse than men. • Dads Aren't Slacking, Are Getting Some

  There has been a glut of "guys do housework, get laid" stories out lately, and some of them frankly sound like a bid to get laundry help. You know, men who do housework are hot, if women aren't tired they feel more in the mood, and so on. If it doesn't make you feel like a low-paid call girl, I suppose you could even work out some sort of direct exchange of chores for hummada hummada, but I doubt either party really wants to feel like there's an ulterior motive behind the acts of cleanliness and love.
