  A few weeks ago, Babble went to the future. And you were there! And you! Okay, no, you weren't there, but Ty Pennington was, as he is the official childless spokesperson of the (admittedly really handy) new Similac Simplepac. What else did we see in the Nursery of the Future? 1. Lots of formula. Because in the future, universal health care will cover breast augmentation, leaving all women unable to nurse. • Nina Garcia: Babble Exclusive!

  The Babble editors are completely addicted to Project Runway. When the "licious" guy was voted off, the next morning we made extra-strong coffee and toasted his demise. So we were pretty excited when writer Lisa Estall sent us a few answers she got out of our hero, Nina Garcia.  Garcia left Elle in August to become fashion director at Marie Claire. She lives in New York with her husband and reasonably named one-year-old son, Lucas Alexander Conrod. • Girl Power Rooms: Space for a Superhero

  We're in the midst of buying our first home, and I am having endless day dreams about decorating my daughter's room. The first thing on the walls? These superhero-as-kids prints from LA artist Mike Pederson.  Pederson's prints feature Wonder Woman as a juvenile hero, all willowly and knock-kneed, Batman and Superman on a seesaw and several others, including Flash and Cat Woman. They're playful, spirited and thanks to a certain dream-like haziness, evocative of childhood fantasies about fighting for truth, justice and the American way. • When Ants Invade the Nursery ... On Purpose

  Want a cool new nursery gadget that is sure to mess up your kid for life? Or at least give her a phobia that will never, ever go away? Try ants! On the wall! OneUp Designs has some pretty cool wall decals, featuring elephants, dots, flowers and more -- but ants? It's hard enough for babies to sleep on their own -- without the constant fear of an insect invasion. So I don't know why any parent would want to pay good money to strew bugs around the room. Just looking at the photo makes me want to scratch my neck. Or break out the Raid. Still, I guess so long as they don't make clown decals.... Now that would seriously mess up a kid. Forever. • Who Knew Toast Was This Much Fun?

  Almost every day at my house involves toast or some form of toaster use. Although we have a cheap and cranky retro brushed-aluminum toaster that's mostly serviceable, how much better our mornings could be if we had something a little different, something like, maybe, a Hello Kitty toaster? Or maybe one that makes pirate toast? Or how about one that's simply a design statement? Slashfood has a round-up of toasters that claim not to be your mama's toaster. I'm pretty sure they're right, and any one of these just may get your picky toddler to eat bread. My favorites? Brilliant design-wise, though not so practical unless you're a family of one, is the Transparent Toaster. And winning major points also for design and definitely in uniqueness yet leaving me wondering about excessive crumbs on the counter (me? anal? what makes you ask?) is the portable printer look-alike by Jaren Goh Designs. Clearly a winner in the WTF category is the Holy Toast maker, which either will offend everyone you know or make you a mint on eBay when you list your mysterious holy toast, I can't tell which. And my hands-down overall favorite, winning points in design and versatility plus being a clear kid-pleaser, is the Pop Art Toaster that comes with 6 plates that emboss your toast with different designs. • Kid-centric Design Inspiration

  It's been Kids' Week at Print & Pattern, a blog dedicated to showcasing excellent design. Usually a go-to source for pretty pictures of home decor, paper products and fabric for grownups, this week the focus has been on interesting and unusual graphic design in the world of children's apparel and accessories. Japan is heavily represented, as you can probably guess. P&P highlights textile designer Amy Schimler, the art of Megan Cash, and the inimitable style of UK children's cartoon Charlie and Lola. On an ordinary "adult week", Print & Pattern makes me want to burn my house down and start over from scratch. Kids' Week just makes me want to gut the girls' room and buy new bedding. • Apartment Therapy: Nursery Edition

  I'm pretty pleased to share this news: one of my favorite flavors of site candy just got hip to the parenting thang. Welcome to Apartment Therapy: The Nursery. I've been loving Apartment Therapy from afar for a while now--even though I technically live in a house, it's about half of the size of our previous (and pre-kid) flat. We're, shall we say, very cozy over here. Apartment Therapy's focus on small-scale space is right up my alley, and AT: The Nursery follows that same aesthetic. I look forward to gleaning innovative ideas to keep the toys and tutus at bay when space is at a premium.
