I'm about 10 years too old to be influenced by Ani DiFranco and her music. Influential female artists of my generation were people like Exene Cervenka, Annabella Lwin, Chrissy Hynde and Kim Gordon. While college girls in the 90's were attending women's studies classes, growing dreads, and piercing their noses I was working two jobs and living my single girl, St. Elmo's Fire-esque, post-graduate life.
But anyway, Ani DiFranco, whose music has never crossed my ears, just had a baby girl named Petah. She delivered at home in Buffalo, NY.
And all the twenty-nine-year-olds that used crystal deodorant, went to poetry slams, and experimented with lesbianism in college rejoice!
