As a father raising a young daughter, I've always believed that as
long as I keep her off not only a future E! True Hollywood Story but
also away from the stripper pole, I'll have done my job. Well, it
seems that another low-expectation parenting goal that I forgot to add
is ensuring that she doesn't choose prostitution as a viable career
choice.
Thankfully, a convicted pimp from Arizona has made an educational video warning
teen girls about the dangers of prostitution. The 20-minute video, the
brainchild of Judge Lex Anderson of Lake Pleasant Justice Court, will
be completed by the end of January and 1,500 DVDs are to be
distributed, including to schools. The convicted pimp, Antoin Thurman, helped with the video by
describing how he recruited girls at malls and clubs and lured them
into selling their bodies. Thurman said that teen prostitutes are
traded like cattle and beaten, don't keep their money and can be lured
into the profession with sweet talk and designer handbags.
Surprisingly, Thurman doesn't mention the dangers involved in not bringin’ enough of that money back to yo’ pimp!
But, in all seriousness, I'm glad to see concerned citizens like Judge Anderson take an innovative approach to battling some of the challenges facing young teens today. It's always good to see people thinking out of the box. Rock on, Judge!
