Ooh, I love the double-edged sword, don't you? On the one hand, uh,
happy Mother's Day! And on the other, I'm afraid it's my duty to inform
you that CNN doesn't like the way you drive. Nothing personal, you understand. But, uh, your momishness is apparently making you a bad driver.
(Oh, and by the way? I should tell you that I do ALL of these things. Sometimes at the same time!)
1.
Cell phones. A no-no. 'Cause, you know, as moms we're so distractible.
Even using a headset, that's right, we cannot talk and drive at the
same time! Or walk and chew gum, but that was a different article.
2. We're too confident. It's time to take moms down a peg or two! Get 'em back in the kitchen where they belong!
3.
Driving while drowsy. If I was fully rested every time I got behind the
wheel, I'd never drive. Moms are sleep-deprived. So are dads! Why
do you think Starbucks has a drive-thru?
4. Speeding. What??! What are they talking about? No one does that!
5.
Snacking. Did you know that eating is nearly as distracting as reading?
Me neither! Sure, when it's a 12-course dinner, but how often do
you eat something in your car that didn't either come from a drive-thru
or a convenience store?
6. Paying attention to your kid. Please
see #1, because it's well-known we can't do more than one thing at a
time. Oh, and do take the mini-test to see how well you fare!
7. Slacking on car maintenance. Cars need maintenance? Don't they just...go?
There. Now don't you feel better?
