Knitters. What is this odd bunch of textile crafters -- a mix of the
dowdy and hip, not unlike the modern librarian populations (hmmmm,
connection?).
This won’t make me popular, I’m sure, but knitters
strike me as an updated version of cat people. Singularly focused, a
little shut in, smug and defensive about the overarching concern of
their lives: fuzzy things.
Think I'm exaggerating? Check out this piece
on a group of rogue knitwits who followed the pattern for an Assassin
game but gave it a decidedly knitter's flare: Sock Wars. It's more
evidence that we should keep a safe distance from people who carry
around sharp needles, bemoan "dropped stitches" and use words like
"skein".
