Mattress Ad Features Homebirth
Not sure what the mattress ads in your TV market are like, but
around here, they typically feature a wacky mattress store giant ready
to slash prices on name brands! (Pillow tops! Kings!) Or a barely
compatible couple setting wildly variant firmness levels on his/her
side of the bed.
But
in today’s installment of How Euros Aren’t Like Americans, we bring you the
mattress ad. Here’s a French one featuring two guys snuggling with the
line “And you, how do you sleep?”
Or this: an ad from Spain featuring a
homebirth.
Unless you work for hippies (or in Spain), this video is NSFW.
The Spanish mattress company, Flex, features a Barcelona couple’s
homebirth and the slogan, “Your bed, the most important place in the world.” The couple explain they wanted the birth to happen in their Flex, because that’s where their son as born (comfort! durability!).
What do you think? Sweet ad plucking our heart strings, or a call for the return of mattress giants worldwide?

I found both ads disturbing – though the homebirth was haunting and beautiful, I don’t know that I’d want to see that on tv during dinner or family time. The second ad, was just plain creepy.
Awesome! I loved both ads and wish we had ads like that in the US. Makes me waht to buy that bed!
This is a great add, but I tell you that French women cannot afford such luxury. A few home-birthers are forced to migrate to third-world countries (Belgium, Germany etc.) to enjoy a peaceful childbirth! See the photograph:

Lovely ad…but all those white sheets, with a baby? Not going to last
Thank you for the link love to Birth Activist!
Awwww! If only my delivery had been as sweet and peaceful….maybe I used the wrong mattress??
I like both. I wish there were American ads like these.
Yeah, they say “primer hijo” (first child) was born at home, on the same bed.
That was totally amazing!
love both of em, great ads!
MeganInMA, they had an older son in the commercial…I’m guessing that’s who they meant.
I found the ad kinda sweet, but…yeah. weird. I don’t think I’d like to see a live homebirth when eating my dinner or anything, but I liked the idea behind it.
And the French snugglers? Adorable!
“The couple explain they wanted the birth to happen in their Flex, because that’s where their son as born (comfort! durability!).”
I think you mean where their son “was conceived”…
