TUNE IN: Join Our Live Blog of In the Motherhood TONIGHT

Posted by JeanneSager

We've been going a little crazy getting ready for tonight's premiere of the new ABC show "In the Motherhood" around here.

And why not? It's not every day we get a show that's ALL about parents.

We're finally at the big day! The show premieres tonight at 8 eastern/7 central, and we'll be right there watching it with you. . . and live blogging the whole thing. Will Megan Mullally be as loveable when she doesn't have a Karen-sized drink in her hands? Will Cheryl Hines be as bust-a-gut funny as we're used to?

Get ready for the show by reading our recent Five Minute Time Out interview with Mullally and Hines (if you haven't already), then get back here tonight at 8 p.m. to talk back to us about what you love, what you loathe and why you'll be tuning in again every Thursday night on ABC. And get over to the ABC site to submit your real-life story of what goes on in your motherhood.

Guess there are no mothers of color in the motherhood.

I imagine I am not the only grateful that the show will start so we can cease being flogged by Babble's relentless advertising.

So instead of appreciating a show, now we have to PC everything and put in a person representing every lifestyle and ethnicity? Maybe they didn't have room for a single mom, gay mom, conservative mom, liberal mom, black mom, mexican mom, indian mom, country mom, city mom, etc.

Is there anything people won't bitch about?

Uh! wait a second Twyla. You are sounding rather silly. It is not about PC ing everything but rather diversifying a very diverse subject matter, Motherhood! T.V. does not P.C everything and has not hardly even tried to be inclusive. In fact other than cops and criminals minorities are almost invisible in prime-time t.v. Your overly exaggerated, snarky and cynical response to the comments above is uncalled for. Is it really that threatening that us women of color may want to see ourselves represented by a show that sets out to represent motherhood as a whole? Really? Oh! , by the way I  have been very excited and am still  excited and looking forward to The Motherhood. I hope it is good.

I am not threatened by your desire. I wouldn't really care what color the people on the show are as long as they are doing the job right. I wouldn't want a "token" anybody on any show.

I am sorry that most of the ethnic actors are shown in a negative light. You need to take that up with the actors taking the jobs and the people supporting the shows. I watch Scubs (with wonderful black actors) and The Office (Kelly is Indian). We don't watch dramas at all. Yuck!

Twyla... your privilege is showing. Enjoy your invisible backpack. (feel free to google the parts of this response you don't understand. You know... if you're the type to seek greater understanding.
