13-Year-Old Daddy - “I’m the daddy. If not…I’ll still be there.”

Posted by Cole Gamble

Even 13-year-old daddies who look like 8-year-old daddies still want to do the right thing and man up. So to answer all the claims of paternity by other “men” (read 14 and 16-year-olds) little Alfie Patten has taken to wearing a hoodie personalized with a message for the world: “I’m the daddy, if not f**k you all I’ll still be there,” with a giant up yours gesture printed on the back of his head.

Way to own it Alfie.

Oddly enough, this case gets odder.

If all the other minus 18-year-old suitors are cleared and Alfie is found the one true father of Maisie, the best possible scenario is for the wee man to move in with the baby and baby mamma Chantelle Steadman, 15. Under that circumstance, Steadman would be the legal guardian of Alfie as well as Maisie—making her, in the eyes of the law, a single mother of two.

That is scary stuff. My 13 year old boy hates when I read anything like this because it makes me even more cautious of what he is allowed to do. It doesn't help that I work with teen moms. This is not an isolated event. There were two girls pregnant at our local middle school a year ago. One of them was 13. The other was 12.

Now can we teach about birth control options and abstinence in middle school. These kids are screaming for some answers and help.

It's really a shame we don't prepare our kids for the onset of puberty and the hormones that come with it. We need to be giving kids this kind of information very early (I got THE TALK in watered down terms when I was 5 and again in more serious terms when I was 11 and again completely in full details when I was 13 or 14). I was taught to think with my head and not let my emotions or the hormones control everything. It's tough but all my friends had similar situations. Not a single pregnancy in our large group and we all dated our fair share.

This is so sick...my mom would disown me if I did anything like this in the next 10 years, and that's when I'm a legal adult. My dad would kill me if I had ANY illegitimate children, whether I was willing to take responsibility or was a legal adult.

THE BRITISH ARE SICK MAN!!!
