Now here is something positive coming out of the dirty habit of smoking, health insurance for the children of the United States.
Today, the House will start debating a new bill that would increase the money spent on the State Children’s Health Insurance Program by $33 billion bucks over the next 4 ½ years. The way this increase in funds will be accomplished is by a tax increase on a pack of cigarettes by 61 cents.
The new changes will also help to insure legal immigrants and pregnant immigrants. The supporters in the House have their fingers crossed that the bill will be passed right after Barack Obama takes office. The bill has been vetoed twice in 2007 by George W Bush.
Let's hear it for the smokers! And if some happen to quit smoking because of this price increase, well that's good news too.
