As you await Michael Phelps' comedy debut on 'Saturday Night Live' tonight (remember Phelps? Swimmer guy? Won a bunch of medals a month ago, even though it feels like years have passed since the Olympics?), let us take a moment to recall another sports figure who hosted SNL: NFL quarterback Peyton Manning.
In this sketch, Peyton takes time out of his busy day to hang out with kids in need – something he maybe shouldn't be doing. He plays a little football ("Do you wanna lose? I throw, you catch. It's not that hard."), shares important life skills (like stealing cars), and teaches valuable lessons in sportsmanship (like making a kid sit in a porta-potty for dropping a pass.)
"Spend time with your kids – so Peyton doesn't." Good stuff. Hope Phelps gets good material to work with; he's not exactly a natural comedian. Peyton, however, is kinda funny.
