A couple who had already managed to conceive three babies on their own had fertility treatments?!? Unethical and irresponsible--the couple and the doctors.

I agree with the above comment. I also think it's awful that they did this b/c they wanted a boy. I wonder to what extent all of their daughters will end up feeling like second class citizens of their household.

I'm sorry - I'm still just stuck on "give birth to a Buick" comment from above. I just horked a whole bunch of tea up my nose reading that - I found that hilarious.

I guess, in all seriousness, I will also add that I do understand commenters' concerns with how the girls will feel.  But I also think that a preference for a different gendered child is not a total guarantee of misogyny.  My brother and I were both adopted - he, when I was five years old.  My parents explained to me that they wanted me to have a little brother.  But I never once felt that they didn't want or love me unconditionally and completely - it never bothered me that they wanted a boy once they'd had a girl.  So it's possible that the little girls might grow up to be loved very much, too.

She was only 27, too!  It't not like she didn't have plenty of time to work at conceiving that boy the, ahem, usual way.

A little too much if you ask me...shes "stuck" raising 10 babies for the rest of her life dam!
